My new favorite teriyaki place in california. I ordered the teriyaki and the sukiyaki bowl and both were delicious. Good portions, fresh and well cooked. Appears to be a mom and pop type of place and not a franchise. There was no indoor seating, mainly takout. The people were friendly and even the patrons picked up on the mom and pop vibe amd everyone was cool. It does appear to get very busy during lunch. I called and no one picked up, but was able to place an online order and was able to pick the food with no issues in about 20 minutes.

Every chance I get in San Mateo I get a bowl and while I wait I grab a drink from the market next door and head to Central Park and enjoy my meal! Delicious

I’ve been coming here for 15 years - it is without a doubt my absolute favorite place to eat. If you’re new, try the beef teriyaki bowl with broccoli and pasta salad. This is a family-owned business with the original philosophy of making healthy, affordable, high-quality food available to the working class. The legacy is carried on — and the dishes are just extremely delicious. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed.

We love this place for a quick lunch or dinner. It’s been around for decades - a true downtown San Mateo staple. Our go-tos are the chicken teriyaki or Tonkatsu/chicken katsu bentos. We usually go the bento route because the pasta salad is to die for. Hawaiian style pasta salad with imitation/California roll style crab meat in it. We love it so much we recently did a blog post on it. A true 5 stars.
